January 19, 2009
Today, we fly via TACA leaving Toronto at 8:35AM and arrive in Lima Peru at 7:05PM - we don't know where we will be spending the night yet - although they did say they would put us up as they changed out flight schedule!!
January 20, 2009:
Today we fly from Lima Peru at 10:55AM to Quito Ecuador, arriving at 1:10PM. We'll be staying at Hotel Rio Amazonas for one night before flying to Cuenca in the morning.
January 21, 2009:
Today, we fly to Cuenca via TAME airlines - an early start as our flight is at 7:15 AM arriving in Cuenca at 8:00AM - YIKES!!! We'll be staying at Casa Ordinez here to enjoy the sites until the 23rd.
January 23, 2009:
Today, we fly back to Quito at 8:30AM to catch a local bus to Otavalo - about 2 hrs. north west of Quito. Otavalo is known to have the largest outdoor market in South America - can't wait! While here for 3 nights, we'll be staying at Hostal Dona Esther - a nice little Hostal in the centre of town.
Settle in to view the sites of the town on Friday, market day on Saturday then more sight seeing that day and Sunday, before heading back to Quito to meet with our GAP tour group.
January 26, 2009:
Back to Quito via local bus to stay one more night at Hotel Rio Amazonas - tonight we meet the rest of the tour group whom we'll be with until February 4, 2009.
January 27, 2009:
Fly to the Galapagos Islands - no more blogging for a few days - sorry! - (although you can follow our itinerary by clicking on the link to the right.)
February 4, 2009:
Fly back to Quito and stay at Hotel Rio Amazonas until the 6th - we hope to ravel to Cotopaxi National Park - site of one of (if not the) highest points in South America at approx. 19,000 feet! A massive Volcano - this will be amazing!!!
February 6, 2009:
Time to depart Ecuador for Toronto, via Lima, Peru and San Salvador, El Salvador
That's our itinerary - we are really looking forward to this once in a life time trip!!
